Free. Barside asks before it adds the template, then makes a new note from it. Needs Barside 1.50 or newer.

Trip details are scattered across emails, tabs and apps. This template pulls them into one note you can check on the way.

Who it is for

It is for travelers planning a trip with several bookings: holidays, work trips, family visits and weekend getaways. Trips with friends work well in a shared Barside Space. Keep the cost in view with the budget tracker at home.

What is in the travel planner template

  • Dates and Who: the basics.
  • Day by day: a table with Date, Plan and a Booked box for each day.
  • Bookings: flight, stay and transport.
  • Packing list: a checklist that starts with the essentials.
  • Budget: a table with a total, what is paid, and a donut chart by category.

An example

Ana plans four days in Lisbon. She adds the flights and hotel under Bookings, plans one main thing per day, and ticks Booked for the museum on day two. The budget table totals $1,400, with stay and travel as the largest slices of the chart. The night before leaving she packs from the checklist, ticking each item as it goes into the bag.

How to use the travel planner template

  1. Choose Open in Barside above. Barside opens and asks before it adds anything.
  2. Pick the workspace for the note, and leave Keep it in my templates ticked to use the template again.
  3. Choose Create note. A new note called "Trip plan" opens, ready to fill in.
  4. Next time, start one from New note from a template, or let Barside make it on a schedule as a repeating note.

No Barside yet? It is free for Windows, Linux and Mac: download Barside, then choose Open in Barside again.

  • Save confirmation pages: Barside can save web pages for offline reading.
  • Pack from the checklist and tick as you go.

Make it yours

  • Add rows for longer trips.
  • Change the currency format of Cost for trips abroad.
  • Save your packing list as its own template for every trip.

FAQ

Questions and answers

Can I see the itinerary offline?

Yes. The note lives on your computer, so it works without internet. Saved web pages keep their text and pictures offline too.

Is the travel planner template free?

Yes. The template and Barside are both free. Barside Plus is optional and adds cloud backup and sync between computers; templates do not need it.

Do I need an account to use it?

No. Barside runs on your computer without an account, and the notes you make from the template stay in your library on your computer.

Can I change the travel planner template?

Yes. Edit the note it makes like any other note: rename columns, add rows, delete sections. To keep your version, open the note and choose Save as template in its options.
