OKRs pair an objective, what you want to achieve, with key results, the numbers that prove it. This template keeps both in one note that a team can update every week.

Who it is for

It is for small teams and founders who plan by quarter and want their objectives and numbers in one shared place, without dedicated OKR software. It also works for one person who likes measurable goals.

What is in the okr planner template

  • Objectives: one inspiring sentence each, two objectives to start.
  • Key results: a table with Start, Target and Current numbers, Confidence (high, medium, low) and Owner.
  • Where each key result stands: a bar chart of the current values.
  • Weekly check-in: progress, risks and help needed.

An example

A three-person product team writes two objectives: "New users love their first week" and "Customers get answers fast". Under the first, they track weekly active users from 1,200 to 2,000 and customer interviews from 0 to 20. Every Monday, the owner updates Current. Halfway through the quarter, users are at 1,500, so they set confidence to Medium and plan an onboarding fix in their project tracker.

How to use the okr planner template

  1. Choose Open in Barside above. Barside opens and asks before it adds anything.
  2. Pick the workspace for the note, and leave Keep it in my templates ticked to use the template again.
  3. Choose Create note. A new note called "OKRs · 2026" opens, ready to fill in.
  4. Next time, start one from New note from a template, or let Barside make it on a schedule as a repeating note.

No Barside yet? It is free for Windows, Linux and Mac: download Barside, then choose Open in Barside again.

How to write good OKRs

  • Keep two or three objectives a quarter, with two to four key results each.
  • A key result is a number with a target, not a task: "20 customer interviews", not "talk to customers".
  • Set targets that feel a little out of reach. Reaching about 70% often means the target was ambitious enough.
  • Update Current and Confidence every week, in a short check-in.

Make it yours

  • Rename the objectives in the Objective column options.
  • Add a column for the key result's unit, such as users or hours.
  • Share it with your team in a Barside Space so everyone sees the same numbers.

FAQ

Questions and answers

How often should I update OKRs?

Weekly for Current and Confidence, so problems show early, and once at the end of the quarter for a score and a short review.

Is the okr planner template free?

Yes. The template and Barside are both free. Barside Plus is optional and adds cloud backup and sync between computers; templates do not need it.

Do I need an account to use it?

No. Barside runs on your computer without an account, and the notes you make from the template stay in your library on your computer.

Can I use it on a Mac?

Yes: Barside for Mac is out. Barside also runs on Windows and Linux. The template page works in any browser, so you can preview it anywhere.
