Free. Barside asks before it adds the template, then makes a new note from it. Needs Barside 1.50 or newer.

Publishing regularly is easier with a calendar. This template shows what is coming, what is stuck and which channels get attention.

Who it is for

It is for creators, marketers, small business owners and newsletter writers who publish on more than one channel. It also works for a team blog with several authors. Draft each piece with the blog post outline template.

What is in the content calendar template

  • A board: Ideas, Drafting, Editing, Scheduled and Published.
  • Calendar: a table with Channel (blog, newsletter, video, social), Status, Publish on and Owner, sorted by date.
  • Pieces by channel: a bar chart drawn from the table.
  • Themes this month: what ties the pieces together.

An example

Ana's team plans October. "How we plan a launch" is a blog post in Drafting, due on the 14th. A behind-the-scenes video is Scheduled for the 20th. The October newsletter is still an idea. The chart shows the blog gets most of the attention, so they add two short social posts made from the video. Each Friday, they drag cards forward on the board.

How to use the content calendar template

  1. Choose Open in Barside above. Barside opens and asks before it adds anything.
  2. Pick the workspace for the note, and leave Keep it in my templates ticked to use the template again.
  3. Choose Create note. A new note called "Content calendar" opens, ready to fill in.
  4. Next time, start one from New note from a template, or let Barside make it on a schedule as a repeating note.

No Barside yet? It is free for Windows, Linux and Mac: download Barside, then choose Open in Barside again.

How to publish on a schedule

  • Keep more ideas than you need. Pick the best each week.
  • Batch the work: write on one day, edit on another.
  • Repurpose: a long video becomes short clips with Barside's AI clip maker.
  • Review what performed best each month and plan more of it.

Make it yours

  • Change the channels to the ones you use.
  • Add a Link column for the published piece.
  • Share the note with your team in a Barside Space.

FAQ

Questions and answers

Does the board follow the table?

No. They are separate blocks, so use the board for flow and the table for dates and owners, or keep only one.

Is the content calendar template free?

Yes. The template and Barside are both free. Barside Plus is optional and adds cloud backup and sync between computers; templates do not need it.

Do I need an account to use it?

No. Barside runs on your computer without an account, and the notes you make from the template stay in your library on your computer.

Can I change the content calendar template?

Yes. Edit the note it makes like any other note: rename columns, add rows, delete sections. To keep your version, open the note and choose Save as template in its options.
